Mission Statement
To be missionaries of faith, hope and love facilitating and encounter with Christ where He is present and to bring Him to where He is needed. Through our actions and prayers, we make pathways for the Holy Spirit to create moments of encounter, both in our Parish Community as well as the local Nichols/Trumbull community, the Greater Bridgeport Area, and the Diocese of Bridgeport, while always maintaining the dignity of those we seek to help.
Mercy Team Goals
Our Mercy Team fills the needs of Justice and Charity in our Parish and in our larger community. Each event is designed to help connect those in our Parish family to our local Nichols/Trumbull community, the Greater Bridgeport Area, and the Diocese of Bridgeport.

A heartfelt thank you to all the many parishioners who contributed so generously to make the Annual Toiletry Drive a big success. Many boxes full of toiletries were delivered to Blessed Sacrament Church in Bridgeport early this week. We would like to especially thank JANE AND BILL TAYLOR for all of their time and commitment in leading this important Community Outreach Program.
THANK YOU to everyone who so generously donated to this year’s Backpack and School Supply Drive. We were able to provide more than 130 backpacks filled with notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, folders, binders, crayons, etc. The quality and quantity of items provided was excep-tional and will serve a large number of children. Blessed Sacrament Church, St. Charles Borromeo Church, and The McGivney Community Center send their most heartfelt thanks to our Parish. I would like to extend my personal thanks to our Parish family for a job very well done! That our contributions will make a child proud to begin school, should fill us with a special grace from the Holy Spirit.
The response to this year’s Annual Hat, Coat, & Sweater Drive was the strongest in the history of our Parish! Thanks to our parishioners’ generosity, we filled 71 huge bags (about 2,000 pounds) with warm clothing, and they have already been delivered to Blessed Sacrament Church in inner-city Bridgeport, as well as to the Trumbull Food Pantry here in town. Special thanks go out to Bill & Jane Taylor, the longtime chairs of this effort, together with Salvatore Spadaccino, our Coordinator for Social Justice and Charitable Outreach. Most of all, a huge thank-you to everyone who donated hats, coats & sweaters!
Thanksgiving Food Drive was a Huge Success! Thanks to our parishioners’ generosity, more than 300 families in need from inner city Bridgeport enjoyed a Thanksgiving Feast this year. We want to thank our parishioners for their generosity for food donations as well as monetary donations, which allowed us to provide fresh ingredients for families. Special thanks go out to Gloria Bender, Salvatore & Györgyi Spadaccino, Mary Turechek, Father Luke Suarez, Jeannie Cavallero, Carol Spencer, Patrick Moody, and the St. Catherine of Siena Youth Group. Most of all, a huge thank you to everyone who donated to the effort!
The 2018 Annual Parish Giving Tree received the biggest turnout in our parish history. Over 100 large Santa bags filled with an estimated 2,500 gifts were donated. Many children and adults at Blessed Sacrament Church, St. Charles Borromeo Church, The McGivney Center, St. Mary’s Church, and The Convent of Mary Immaculate Nursery will have a brighter Christmas this year because of you! A huge thank you to everyone who contributed toys and other gifts, which were delivered last week. Many thanks to Gloria Bender, and the Annual Parish Giving Tree Committee for their many hours of service sorting, bagging and delivering your most generous donations.
Our Parishioners are making a difference and we want to acknowledge them. Thank you to everyone who donated to and volunteered at our initial Pro-Life Baby Shower! The response was overwhelming and greatly appreciated. Together, we distributed over 3,000 diapers, 7,500 wipes, 400 onesies, 100 blankets -- including hand made knitted blankets -- and a large amount of ointments, bibs, food, accessories and even some pack and plays and furniture. All of the recipients were deeply thankful. We heard a few stories about the moms who would be receiving the items and how much it helps them. We cannot put into words the gratitude those stories have, and please know that every single donation added up and contributed. A special thank you to Patti Pavia and Cheryl Yotch for the beautiful set up and display of the Annunciation with prayer cards, as well as the student volunteers who helped separate the items! Please continue to pray, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother, Mary, for all expectant mothers, especially those facing difficult circumstances.
